Overview: Jubail 3B is a large‑scale seawater reverse‑osmosis independent water project located in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, supplying potable water to a major industrial and urban region under a long‑term Water Purchase Agreement with the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC). The plant plays a critical role in strengthening water security in one of the Kingdom’s most water‑ and energy‑intensive areas, supporting both municipal supply and industrial development. The facility is the first reverse‑osmosis desalination plant in Saudi Arabia to integrate large‑scale solar photovoltaic generation, incorporating 54.6 MW of on‑site solar PV to reduce reliance on grid electricity and lower the carbon intensity of water production. Beyond desalination, the project includes associated storage facilities, a 380 kV electrical substation, and transmission infrastructure, enhancing system resilience and operational reliability.
