Overview
Barka 2 is a gas‑fired cogeneration power and water plant supplying electricity and desalinated water under long‑term contractual arrangements within Oman’s integrated power‑and‑water system. The facility plays an important role in supporting national utility demand through reliable, baseload generation.
The plant combines combined‑cycle gas turbine (CCGT) technology with reverse osmosis (RO) desalination, enabling efficient and coordinated production of power and water. Operational since 2009, Barka 2 is a well‑established asset contributing to the resilience and stability of Oman’s energy and water infrastructure.
