ENGIE announced as preferred bidder for Yanbu 4 Independent Water Project

Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has chosen ENGIE as the preferred bidder for Yanbu 4 Independent Water Project (IWP) with a capacity of ~100 MIGD and a total estimated cost of 700 Million USD. The new project is a Sea Water Reverse Osmosis plant which will be in the town of Ar Rayyis, (80km South of Yanbu) on the Red Sea.

In alignment with the Kingdom’s Vision and the economic diversifications plan, ENGIE is pleased to meet and support the Kingdom’s objectives in becoming its long-term positive energy partner. The Project will benefit the job market in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through various disciplines that will include engineering, financing, business management and numerous vocational skills. In addition to meeting job creation and economic growth, this also an achievement to increase Foreign Direct Investment.

Suresh Bhaskar, Executive Vice-President and Head of Business Development for Power & Gas for ENGIE in the Middle East, South and Central Asia and Turkey indicated “ENGIE is excited to be a partner to SWPC for developing the water sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the well-established IWP framework . Yanbu 4 Independent Water Project will be utilizing very advanced technologies and highly efficient operating practices to achieve one of the lowest
electrical efficiency. We look forward to bringing the 150 years of ENGIE’s global expertise in infrastructure projects and leverage on our already strong regional presence to meet the infrastructure needs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”.
