A long-standing contributor to Oman’s critical infrastructure

ENGIE has played an important role in strengthening Oman’s critical infrastructure through both electricity generation and desalinated water production.

Reliable Power for a Growing Nation

Through the Sohar 1 & 2, Al Rusail and Barka 2 & 3 power plants, ENGIE operates approximately 2.7 GW of generation capacity, representing around 25% of Oman’s power generation capacity. These facilities provide reliable electricity that supports homes, businesses, and key industries across the Sultanate.

Securing Oman’s Water Supply

As a leader in desalination, ENGIE helps ensure a reliable supply of fresh water for communities and industries across Oman.

The Barka 2 Desalination Plant contributes an additional 26 MIGD, supporting both the Barka industrial hub and surrounding communities.

Barka 4, Oman’s largest desalination plant, produces 61 MIGD of potable water and is a cornerstone of the country’s water infrastructure.

Together, the two facilities produce a combined 87 MIGD, representing more than one-third of Oman’s desalinated water capacity. This contribution plays a vital role in supporting water security and sustainable development across the Sultanate.
